New 1600EP MBR for Decmil & FMG
Tristar have recently been awarded the contract to upgrade the MBR that was successfully commissioned last year at FMG's Kandama Village, at it's Christmas Creek mine site.
The stage 1 project comprised the design and construction of a 800EP Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plant to treat the sewage from the accommodation village. Commissioning of stage 1 was completed in November 2010 following a 6 week construction period. Tristar undertook full detailed design and off-site fabrication and assembly, which allowed the system to be largely factory-tested before it's delivery and installation. Tristar completed all mechanical, plumbing and electrical works, including the installation of the two storage tanks. The plant is fully automated and is provided with 20" colour touchscreen SCADA which allows ease of control and historical trending by the operator. The final effluent from the MBR achieves Class A+ standard and is being re-used around the village for lawn and flower bed irrigation.
The stage 2 upgrade consists of a duplication of stage 1 and is expected to be commisioned by the end of September 2011. The overall period from award to commissioning being only 16 weeks.
The overall capacity of the two plants will be 560kL/day.
